WELCOME TO MY WEBSITE
My name is Peter Moore and I go on grand journeys and write about them. I've travelled overland from London to Sydney and from Cape Town to Cairo. And more recently I bought a Vespa as old as I am and rode around Italy.
I hope my stories convey what I love about travel - the adventure, the laughs, the tough times and the incredible hospitality of people in the most unexpected places. Most importantly, I hope my books make you want to hit the road yourself.

A FEW WORDS ABOUT TOM BASS

My friend Marco's dad passed away yesterday.
Marco's dad was Tom Bass, the famous Australian sculptor. One of his most best known works is the P&O wall fountain on Hunter Street. Oz Magazine published a photo of it being used as a urinal in 1964 with a caption that read 'A trio of Sydney natives P&Oing in the Bass urinal.' The editors were promptly sued and jailed for obscenity and encouraging public urination.
I went to high school with Marco. And we shared a house in our first year at university. My abiding memory of his dad was visiting him in his studio on Broadway in Sydney.
His studio was light and dusty and there always seemed to be a life model or two hanging around. To a young guy who grew up on the outskirts of Sydney it was all very exciting and bohemian.
It also planted the germ of a thought that there may be more to the world than flannelette shirts and ugh boots.
We all know where that led.

Vroom by the Sea has been released in the UK and you can order it on Amazon by clicking here. It is already available in bookstores in Australia and NZ.
It picks up where Vroom with a View left off, and sees me riding through the sunny parts of Italy a few months before my daughter is born.
All your favourite characters are back. And a new one is introduced - a bright orange Rally 200 called Marcello.

I've been living in the UK long enough now to apply for a British passport - the holy grail for those of us who want to be able to live and work in both Oz and Europe.
To get a passport I needed to sit a citizenship test about life in the UK. The Home Office produces a book you can study. But I thought it'd be more fun to travel around the UK and observe life here first-hand.
That's where you guys came in. I've always believed the best travel experiences come from personal recommendations. And when I put the call out for your tips and suggestions I was overwhelmed by the response. Some of you were crazy enough to let me kip on your couch.
Right now I'm sifting through all my notes, photos and hazy memories to write an account of adventures called Blimey.
No concrete publication dates yet. But I'll let you know as soon as I know.
